The program, called Play It Safe™, encompasses the casino’s new operating procedures, which have been reengineered to minimize contact risk. It includes bolstered hygiene protocols to meet or exceed best-practice guidelines of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). As part of this effort, the facility will undergo rigorous, ongoing cleaning and sterilization with Ecolab® products, which are formulated to eliminate bacteria and viruses such as COVID-19 and will close nightly for a deep-cleaning of all public areas.
“In reopening, we are extremely focused on helping protect the health and safety of our guests and employees,” said Travis Hankins, general manager of Jumer’s Casino & Hotel. “With our Play It Safe program, we are employing best practices and have worked with state and local health officials to ensure we are taking appropriate safety precautions.”
Key elements of the Play it Safe™ program include:
- Guests are asked to adhere to social distancing protocols while waiting to enter.
- All incoming guests will be added to a guest registry and their identity will be stored as a record of their visit.
- All guests will be required to wear a mask or other face covering during their visit.
- Temperature screening of guests takes place upon entering the facility.
- An on-site Clean Team has been created, and its members are equipped with Ecolab® multi-surface cleaner and disinfectant to conduct ongoing sanitization of all surfaces. They will help to protect guests by dispensing hand sanitizer and spot cleaning slot machines and other surfaces on request. • Social distancing protocols are in place throughout the facility.
- Touchless service and payment options are now available at food and beverage outlets.
- Hand-sanitizing stations have been added at the entrance and throughout the facility.
- Air exchange settings have been bolstered to optimize air quality within the facility.
- Some service offerings may be limited or unavailable to help maintain safe social distancing and health and safety guidelines.
- As always, no smoking will be permitted within the facility, and a designated smoking area is maintained outside of the building.
Employees will undergo comprehensive training on Play It Safe™ health and safety standards and are required to strictly adhere to Play It Safe™ policies and procedures, including rigorous sanitization and hygiene requirements. Employees take a health check, including a temperature screen, when they report to work and are required to wear masks while on duty.

Rock Island, Ill. (March 20, 2020) – Jumer’s Casino & Hotel and its associates worked to package and deliver approximately 1,800 pounds of food to The RiverCenter’s Safe Community Kitchen Program. Donated food items included fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, meats, prepared food and more.
In conjunction with Quad City Food Rescue Programs, The RiverCenter in Davenport, Iowa, is rolling out a three-phase “Safe Community Kitchen” Program that calls on local chefs to create prepackaged meals for homeless shelters.
The meals are prepared in a safe, sanitized environment, and tracked by weight, date and time. Individuals in need can pick up the meals at The RiverCenter/Adler Theatre Gourmet from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. A family meal pick-up is being organized for later in the day, which will include salads, sides and a main entrée.
“As difficult as it is for us to be temporarily closed, we’re glad that we can still help support our community,” said Travis Hankins, general manager of Jumer’s Casino & Hotel. “We hope the food donation and involvement of our chefs will help our neighbors in need during this trying time.”

We went into the Casino, which is smoke free - very nice. Looked like the machines were relatively new. There were a number of game tables.
We checked out the menu in the cafe. Mostly sandwiches and burgers. We chose to eat in the buffet. Salad bar was very nice. A nice selection of main dishes. Mostly fried (chicken, fish etc.) There were a variety of desserts and ice cream choices. The price was reasonable.
Overall a great place to stay for an overnighter.
I am happy to report that Jumer's Casino, Rock Island, IL (off I-280) is very RV friendly. The Casino is located south of the first exit in Illinois after you cross the Mississippi River. Parking is allowed in the rear of the casino and along the outer parking spots. Food is great; but you must sign up for their magic card (free) to take advantage of the discounts.
